1918. As the world plunges further into unprecedented catastrophe, Grace Banker works as a telephone operator in New York City, proving herself more than capable in a male-dominated workforce. But when the U.S. Army recruits her to lead a group of women directing communications on the frontlines in France, she and her fellow “Hello Girls” will have to prove themselves again and again if they are to convince the top brass—and the country—that they belong in the fight. That is, until he falls for Jenny, an enticingly prickly “Nobody Loves You” producer who yearns to make Serious Films. In a world where every kiss comes at the end of a selfie stick, can two people really connect? Bay Area hometown heroes Itamar Moses (Tony Award winner, The Band’s Visit) and Gaby Alter provide an uproarious book, witty lyrics, and a winsome pop score in this madcap musical comedy helmed by Tony Award winner and A.C.T. Artistic Director Pam MacKinnon.

Running towards a new life, Jacob Jankowski hitches a ride on a mysterious train. He finds himself in the heart of a traveling circus, the Benzini Bros Most Spectacular Show On Earth, with a new job, a new home, and a new family. When charismatic ringmaster August brings Rosie the elephant on as the new star attraction, Jacob and August’s wife Marlena join forces to train her. As Jacob and Marlena’s shared compassion develops into love, August’s cruel nature surfaces, threatening to derail Jacob’s life once more.
