Organist Pamela Decker will present a program entitled “A Kaleidoscope of Song and Dance.” This program will present dance works and lyrical song-like pieces by American and British composers of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries. Composers include Calvin Hampton, Herbert Bielawa, Charles Villiers Stanford, Gerald Near, Ken Yukl, and Pamela Decker. The chosen works display dance rhythms and song influences that trace back to origins in Spain, France, England, South American, Africa, and the United States. The concluding work will be Pamela Decker’s Passacaglia and Dance Variations, which was world premiered on July 13, 2023, in the final concert of the American Guild of Organists’ West Region Convention in Portland, Oregon, with choreography and dance by the Oregon Ballet Theatre.
