Join us for an unforgettable evening as Kazuki Yamada leads the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra in a vibrant performance featuring the works of Shostakovich and Bartók. This special concert, taking place on Wednesday, 5th February 2025 at 7:30pm in the prestigious Symphony Hall, Birmingham, promises to be a showcase of musical brilliance and emotional depth.

The evening will open with Bartók’s Dance Suite, a piece that commemorates the union of Buda and Pest with its lively Hungarian folk rhythms and melodies. Under the baton of Kazuki Yamada, the orchestra will bring this vibrant composition to life, ensuring an electrifying start to the concert.

Following this, the supremely talented Isabelle Faust will take the stage to perform Shostakovich’s Violin Concerto No.2. This concerto, known for its contrasting fiery and icy passages, will display Faust’s exceptional artistry and the deep emotional resonance of Shostakovich’s music.

In the second half of the concert, the orchestra will present the UK Premiere of Akio Yashiro’s Symphony for Large Orchestra, a piece celebrating the collective talent and power of the entire orchestra.

Tickets for this musical feast are priced between £26 and £62, with a per-ticket commission of £3.50 for tickets over £15. The concert also offers various ways to save, including multi-buy discounts and reduced prices for students, 18-30s, under-18s, and benefit recipients.

The performance is expected to last approximately 2 hours, including a 20-minute interval.
