Last season, trumpet master, inexhaustible band leader, and fashion icon Etienne Charles lit up The House of Swing with his Appel Room performance of Carnival: The Sound of a People. Now, he returns to Dizzy’s Club leading his Creole-inflected big band featuring master practitioners from across the globe. Expect a spirited set of new music designed to pull every listener of every generation from their seat to their feet.

Jazz At Lincoln Center

Drummer and composer Quincy Davis brings his poignant work Empathy Suite to Dizzy’s Club. The events surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic and the tragic loss of George Floyd inspired Davis to create a piece reflecting the power of compassion and empathy. Featuring innovative melodies and powerful lyrics, Empathy Suite captures different facets of empathy, drawing inspiration from Maya Angelou, Kobe Bryant, Lao Tzu, the Dalai Lama, and other icons. This performance is made possible through grant funding from the University of North Texas Initiative for the Advancement of the Arts.

Professor of Piano John Ellis will perform a recital including Novelettes by Poulenc, Ballade no. 4 in F minor, Op. 52 by Chopin, Prélude, Choral et Fugue by Franck, and Fantasy in C, Op. 17 by Schumann.
