Singing has long been a way for people to express joy, seek refuge, and call for justice. Join the WashU Chamber Choir and Concert Choir with special guest Lindbergh High School A Cappella Concert Choir to celebrate the act of singing and the power it has to bring people together.

Conceived for choir, chamber orchestra, and soprano soloist, the work—approximately forty minutes in length—follows the Latin text from the Gospel of Luke (1:46–55), articulated in seven movements, each introduced by an expressive indication that shapes its spiritual atmosphere:

Our traditional and much-loved Christmas celebration for orchestra, choirs and audience including the Hallelujah Chorus, O Holy Night, O Come All Ye Faithful, music from Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker, Once in Royal David’s City and In Dulci Jubilo and more. The Hallé Children’s Choir will once again steal the show, this year performing I Want a Hippopotamus For Christmas.

The Civil Service Choir return to Smith Square for the third time this year, with a charity concert featuring Norwegian composer Kim André Arnesen’s Holy Spirit Mass, in a programme celebrating the mixing of the Latin and English liturgies in sacred choral works.
