Colin Currie’s recording of Reich’s Mallet Quartet was both the Editor’s and Critics’ Choice of Gramophone when released. It arose at Reich’s request and was made under his guidance, allowing Currie to bring this insight to bear with Hallé percussionists. Making a neat connection with Jonny Greenwood’s appearance in Saturday’s concert, Radio Rewrite was inspired by two Radiohead songs, resulting in what The Telegraph described as ‘a fine display of compositional mastery.’
