The WSO proudly returns to the WesBanco Arena for Symphony on Ice, the Ohio Valley’s favorite holiday tradition. A true community celebration, this musical extravaganza features hundreds of middle and high school choir students from around the Ohio Valley alongside Wheeling and Pittsburgh figure skating clubs. This year, the WSO Community Choir will feature on several pieces, as well as local star Amanda McGovern, who returns once again to wow the crowd with festive favorites.

The Wheeling Symphony Orchestra's cherished holiday tradition, Symphony on Ice, is set to return to WesBanco Arena this December. This festive event brings together the harmonious sounds of the WSO with the vocal talents of Ohio Valley high school and middle school choirs. Adding to the spectacle, champion professional figure skaters and members of the Pittsburgh and Wheeling figure skating clubs will grace the ice, creating a mesmerizing blend of music and movement. The evening will feature the vocal artistry of Amanda McGovern, a Wheeling native and senior BFA Acting Major at West Virginia University, known for her performances in productions such as Steel Magnolias and Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella. The orchestra will be under the baton of John Devlin, an innovative conductor celebrated for his commitment to American music and his dynamic concert designs. Devlin, in his fifth season as Music Director of the WSO, has garnered acclaim for his work with major orchestras across the nation and his dedication to premiering new American works. Symphony on Ice promises a captivating experience, combining the elegance of figure skating with the rich, live orchestral music, making it a memorable evening for all attendees.

Experience an enchanting evening with the Wheeling Symphony Orchestra at the Anne Kuchinka Amphitheater during the Music Under The Stars Labor Day Weekend concert. This outdoor event, a beloved tradition, will feature a diverse repertoire performed by the orchestra under the direction of Music Director John Devlin. Joining the orchestra are two exceptional vocal talents: Broadway actress Siri Howard and local rising star Amanda McGovern.

Siri Howard, making her debut with the Wheeling Symphony Orchestra, brings a wealth of experience from her illustrious career. A soloist, recording artist, and Broadway actress, Howard has performed with prestigious ensembles such as the New York Philharmonic and the Philadelphia Orchestra. Her Broadway credits include roles in Les Misérables and The Sound of Music, and she has toured nationally with productions like The Phantom of the Opera and Parade. Howard's versatility extends to operatic performances and significant regional musical theatre roles, making her a captivating addition to the evening's program.

Amanda McGovern, a Wheeling native and senior BFA Acting Major at West Virginia University, will also grace the stage. McGovern has showcased her talent in various productions at WVU and with the West Virginia Public Theatre. Her participation in this concert highlights her growing prominence in the local arts scene.

Under the baton of John Devlin, known for his innovative concert designs and commitment to American music, the Wheeling Symphony Orchestra promises a memorable performance. Devlin's leadership and artistic vision have earned him recognition and accolades, including the 2023 Georg Solti Foundation Career Assistance Award.
