The esteemed Tallis Scholars return for their annual appearance with a program celebrating the Christmas season through exploration of Gregorian chant. The gorgeous program explores the history of this sacred tradition through three different styles: the conventional chant, the interpretation by the 12th-century abbess Hildegard of Bingen, and Arvo Pärt’s reimagining of it.

Praised for her “beauty of sound” by Seen&Heard International, Matilda Lloyd presents a programme that explores the singing voice of the trumpet. Matilda was the winner of the 2014 BBC Young Musician of the Year Brass Final, and in 2016, made her BBC proms solo debut in the Royal Albert Hall with the BBC Philharmonic.

The Bangor Symphony Orchestra's Masterworks V concert, "Reverence: Brahms Requiem," promises a profound musical experience. Under the baton of Lucas Richman, the performance features the powerful voices of soprano Aundi Marie Moore and baritone Isaac Bray. The concert opens with Richman's arrangement of Hildegard von Bingen's "O Filie Israhel," setting a contemplative tone. The centerpiece of the event is Brahms' "Ein deutsches Requiem, Op. 45," a monumental work that explores themes of solace and human mortality. The 100-piece choruses, comprising the UMaine Singers and Oratorio Society Chorus, will join the soloists, creating a rich tapestry of sound. Aundi Marie Moore, celebrated for her exquisite vocal talents and captivating stage presence, brings her rich, warm, expressive tones to the performance. Her extensive repertoire and numerous accolades, including the 2023 Sphinx Medal of Excellence, highlight her artistic achievements. Isaac Bray, a baritone with a commanding presence on both opera and concert stages, adds depth to the performance with his versatile vocal range. His recent performances include roles in Handel's "Messiah" and Bach's "Matthäus-Passion." Together, Moore and Bray's voices, combined with the orchestral and choral forces, promise an unforgettable rendition of Brahms' masterwork.
