Florian Störtz – one of the most exciting young baritones of his generation – and Mark Rogers met during their student days at the Royal Academy of Music in London and found congenial musical partners in each other from the get-go. Their specialty is the close-knitted musicianship and refreshing interpretative drive that have earned them recognition in the world of song. Together, they have won the 2023 Helmut Deutsch Song Competition with an electric performance of songs by Schubert, Wolf and Mahler. Shortly afterwards, they won the Prix de mélodie at the 2023 Nadia et Lili Boulanger International Song Competition in Paris.

Great classical music in our chamber concert series: Every year we invite an international ensemble to the Old Federal Council and look forward to a world-class chamber music evening. This time, the French Quatuor Hanson is our guest, a young French ensemble that will present three pieces of chamber music from Austria: two important works by Mozart and Beethoven, as well as a youthful work by the far too long neglected Johanna Müller-Hermann. Listening to their poetically fragrant Quartet in E-flat major is a heartwarming experience!

Beethoven Orchester Bonn

Conductor Nicolas Ellis returns to the VSO to lead Rachmaninoff’s beloved Variations on a Theme of Paganini, poignantly interpreted by pianist Joyce Yang, known for her “vivid and beautiful playing” (The New York Times). Inspired by Danté’s Divine Comedy, Tchaikovsky’s retelling of Francesca da Rimini overflows with passion and tragedy. Mel Bonis’s musical tribute to women of legend presents compelling portraits of Cleopatra, Ophelia and Salome.
