With a unique blend of Jazz and Scottish folk, pianist Fergus McCreadie’s music captures the hearts and minds of audiences worldwide. Fergus’s 2022 album Forest Floor topped the UK Jazz & Blues charts and earned him a 2022 Mercury Prize shortlist nomination and the 2022 Jazz FM Instrumentalist of the Year Award. Fergus McCreadie returns to RWCMD with his trio and latest album ‘Stream’ which continues his exploration of the nature and landscapes of Scotland.

Formed in 2018 by drummer Stephen Henderson, himself a former Jazzwise Magazine One to Watch, the group features three Scottish Jazz Awards winners – saxophonist Konrad Wiszniewski, guitarist Graeme Stephen and pianist and keyboards player Fergus McCreadie – and the Young Scottish Jazz Musician of the Year 2017, bassist David Bowden.

From Scotland to Italy to Lithuania, Fergus McCreadie (piano), Mindaugas Stumbras (guitar), Michelangelo Scanroglio (doublebass) and Mattia Galeotti(drums) have forged a special connection over many years of playing together. Generated initially from a friendship between Mindaugas and Michelangelo, they met in 2018 for the first time in Florence and have since made music many times in their respective countries.

In the dynamic landscape of contemporary jazz, Scottish pianist and composer Fergus McCreadie has carved a remarkable niche. Since 2021 his career has skyrocketed, propelled into the international limelight by two acclaimed releases. His debut album Cairn (2021) set the stage for a journey deeply rooted in natural themes, while Forest Floor (2022) was shortlisted for the Mercury Prize and clinched Scottish Album of the Year - the first Scottish jazz album to do so.
