The opening of the 2026/2027 season takes you on a musical journey across stormy seas, through sparkling nightscapes and symphonic dances with the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra, Principal Guest Conductor Maxim Emelyanychev, and the legendary soprano Nina Stemme. Here, the musical sea interpretations of British composers Ethel Smyth, Benjamin Britten and Edward Elgar meet with the Russian sonorous and dancing energy of Sergei Rachmaninov. A concert where natural forces, emotional storms and symphonic brilliance meet.

One of today’s most lauded Wagnerian sopranos, Christine Goerke traverses stunning highlights of the composer’s operatic canon at this not-to-be missed concert. Tristan and Isolde delves into the mysteries of love and death as Isolde sings herself into rapturous oblivion. David Danzmayr also leads the Oregon Symphony in orchestral highlights from The Valkyrie and Twilight of the Gods. In the spine-tingling “Ride of the Valkyries,” the warrior maidens ride their flying steeds as they carry fallen heroes to Valhalla; and you’ll be enthralled by Siegfried’s heroic Rhine Journey and gripping Funeral March. London Phoenix Orchestra present a programme of English music to open their 2024/25 season. The centrepiece is Elgar’s majestic Symphony No. 1, of which the composer wrote “There is no program beyond a wide experience of human life with a great charity (love) and a massive hope in the future”. Brilliant young cellist Ben Tarlton joins the orchestra for Walton’s magical Cello Concerto. Ethel Smyth’s stirring overture to her most famous opera, The Wreckers.
