Experience the true spirit of Christmas on one stage as Sinfonia Cymru join forces with harpist Catrin Finch, fiddler Patrick Rimes, National Poet of Wales Hanan Issa and Only Boys Aloud. This unique and bilingual concert blends traditional Welsh Plygain carols, Christmas favourites and new poetry. Inspired by A Child’s Christmas in Wales, it’s a joyful and inclusive celebration of Welsh tradition, diversity and the magic of Christmas.

Jordan Price Williams (cello, voice), Aneirin Jones (violin, voice) and Patrick Rimes (viola, violin, voice) are three young men from deepest chapel-going Wales, who have mined the cultural upheaval of past centuries and drawn inspiration from the incredible story of a time when Wales’ traditional music and dance was suppressed by Methodist chapels, and, earlier, its language by the Act of Union.

The Music Room

The extensive concert program presents itself with dazzling diversity and a variety of formats. The Zurich Opera Orchestra, in full force, will perform in seven Philharmonic Concerts, alternating between the Opera House and the Tonhalle. Internationally renowned soloists and guest conductors will dedicate themselves to major works from Beethoven to Strauss, as well as fascinating discoveries from the concert repertoire.
