Tony Award® winner Bill Irwin returns to Broadway (and to Molière) to head the cast of his razor-sharp new adaptation of The Imaginary Invalid, a comedy that proves hypochondria never goes out of style.

Professional patient Argan indulges his every ailment, and schemes to marry off his daughter to a doctor to save on medical bills. But she has another life in mind. With a fearless ensemble directed by Broadway veteran Brandon J. Dirden, this fiercely funny production is about to prove that real life is what happens while you and your family are making other plans.

On Beckett

Irish Repertory Theatre

Tony Award-winning actor and master clown Bill Irwin has spent a lifetime captivated by Samuel Beckett. The depth of his devotion for the famed Irish writer plays out onstage in a nonstop display of jovial verbal and physical comedy that has become Irwin’s signature. With little more than a microphone and a podium, Irwin lets the audience in on the creative process of engaging with Beckett’s sometimes opaque but undeniably rich language, providing a primer in clowning along the way. In addition to exploring texts by one of the most influential theater voices of the past century, audiences will fall in love with Irwin’s unique and endearing approach to Beckett’s work.

Guthrie Theater

From Mr. Noodle on Sesame Street to George in Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf on Broadway, two-time Tony Award-winner Bill Irwin is a film, television, and stage icon. In On Beckett, Irwin combines his renowned skill as a master clown and dramatic actor to explore a performer’s relationship to the works of Samuel Beckett, incorporating passages from the Irish writer and playwright’s most renowned work for an entertaining theatre event. Audiences and critics in New York and Los Angeles cheered Irwin’s acclaimed production with New York magazine calling it “Utterly delightful!”.
