Guest soloist Jonathan Mitchell is featured in Saint-Saëns' Romance for Flute and Orchestra, op. 37. Jonathan is a third-year student pursuing a degree in music education, and studies with Katherine Borst Jones.

The program includes popular works — Mozart's Magic Flute Overture; Strauss' Radetzky March; Tchaikovsky's Waltz from Swan Lake and Copland's "Hoe-Down" from Rodeo, as well as Borodin's Symphony No. 2, from which some motifs inspired songs in the musical Kismet.
