Noël Coward’s glitteringly risqué comedy Easy Virtue is brought to life by renowned director Trevor Nunn, who knows The Arts Theatre well having directed plays here while he was a Cambridge student.

Arguably the greatest operetta of all time, Die Fledermaus gets the royal treatment with gorgeous 1920s designs, an all-star ensemble cast, and a witty English translation. This new production, sparkling with melody, mischief, and masquerade, will be directed by Paul Curran and designed by Gary McCann, with lighting design by Johanna Town. Paul Daniel conducts the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra.

150 years after its first performance in Vienna, Johann Strauss II’s Die Fledermaus arrives at Silk Street Theatre this Autumn.

Set to some of Strauss’ most memorable melodies, including waltzes and polkas, this exuberant comedy will whisk you to a party brimming with mischief, misunderstandings and mistaken identity.

It’s 1994 and the tight-knit mining community of Grimley, Yorkshire, are fighting to keep their colliery open. Meanwhile, revered band leader, Danny, battles to keep his dispirited band of brass playing miners together with the dream of qualifying for the National Championships at London’s Albert Hall.

When the uncertainty around the pit becomes too much for the band members, loyalty is tested, pressure mounts and the community begins to break apart. With their whole way of life at stake, can the band find a way to play on?

Based on the smash-hit film, Brassed Off, this production will feature live music from local brass bands, Wingates Brass Band and Eagley Band delivering a soul-stirring theatrical experience.

A brand new production of La traviata opens the Festival and will be directed by Maxine Braham and designed by Jamie Vartan, who makes his Festival debut, with lighting design by Johanna Town. The Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra is conducted by renowned exponent of Verdi (including Falstaff at the Met, and Simon Boccanegra and Il trovatore at the Royal Opera) Richard Farnes - another Festival debut. The cast includes Samantha Clarke as Violetta - a role she was recently critically acclaimed for with Opera Australia, Nico Darmanin as Alfredo and a Festival debut from Dario Solari as Giorgio Germont.
