Since 1981, the Czech Chamber Music Society Award has been given to young Czech artists in recognition for their outstanding performances in the field of chamber music. For this programme, the Trio Bohémo, winners in 2022, perform major works of the piano trio repertoire in addition to contemporary composer Benjamin Yusupov’s Piano Trio No. 2.

Shortly after its formation in 2019, the Trio Bohémo‘s talent and deep musicality became apparent. They received numerous awards: first, they caused a stir at the Gianni Bergamo Award in Lugano, Switzerland, where they were awarded second prize. Due to this success, the trio was accepted into the “Le Dimore del Quartetto” network, which later awarded them the Ensemble of the Year 2021 prize. In the same summer, they received several special prizes at the “ISA Festival ” in Austria, such as for the best interpretations of Viennese Classical Music, work by Bohuslav Martinů and the Czech Contemporary Chamber Music. A few days later, they won first prize in the “International Filippo Nicosia Award” in Italy.

Trio Bohémo plays Schubert and Brahms

Featuring the international award-winning Trio Bohémo, this concert will be a rare occasion to hear both composers and performers from the Czech lands. Dvořak’s famous “Dumky” Piano Trio is at the heart of their program, where melancholy and joy are felt in quick succession. In “Moravian Folk Songs”, the performers’ own voices will join the colours of their instruments with traditional melodies from the artists’ homeland by Czech composer Jan Vičar. Framing the program: a Haydn trio overflowing with elegance and wit, and the fiery virtuosity of Mendelssohn’s first piano trio.
