Conductor

Join Derrick Fox and perform Robert Ray’s seminal work, Gospel Mass. This mass sets the words from the Catholic Mass to the rhythm and harmony of African-American music.  The festival chorus will perform with a combo of professional jazz musicians from New York City as part of MCP’s Meno Masterworks Series. Singers will represent a variety of ensembles from across the country.

State Singers offers a tapestry of choral music reflecting “Many Threads, One Voice,” exploring how personal truths come together through collective song. University Chorale presents a program centered on Jewish musical traditions, featuring works by Salamone Rossi, Fanny Hensel, Lee Kesselman, and Roxanna Panufnik. The concert concludes with Alex Berko’s Sacred Place, a meditation on Jewish ecology, spirituality, and community. Derrick Fox and Sandra Snow, conductors.

The MSU Wind Symphony joins forces with the Choral Union, State Singers, and University Chorale for a powerful concert centered on the music of acclaimed guest composer Jake Runestad, known for his emotionally charged and socially resonant choral works. Featured selections include Proud Music of the Storm and A Silence Haunts Me, alongside additional pieces by Runestad and a work by MSU composer David Biedenbender. Kevin L. Sedatole, Sandra Snow, and Derrick Fox, conductors.
