Since the Middle Ages, the Christian world has performed the story of Jesus' birth in some dramatized and musical form up until Christmas. One of the most well-known today is Bach's Christmas Oratorio, which he wrote in 1734 when he was 50 years old.

Bach's monumental Mass in B minor was his last major church work. And what a work! A stroke of genius that sums up the master's entire work as a church musician, where soloists, choir and orchestra merge and unite the earthly with the divine in the composer's greatest masterpiece.

Beethoven's Symphony No. 9 is much more than a symphony. It is the ultimate musical call for peace and community on earth. "Ode to joy" , the majestic anthem in the last movement, is known all over the world and even named the EU's official European anthem! But Beethoven's symphony was something special from the very beginning – the grandest and strangest symphony ever heard. But the audience loved the music, and we still do. This year marks the 200th anniversary of the symphony, and it must be celebrated!
