This concert will feature guest speakers, archival materials, and a performance filled with repertoire that is special to Prof. Luckhardt, including: Giovanni Gabrieli’s Canzona per Sonare No. 2, Shelley Hanson’s Albanian Dance, H. Owen Reed’s Michigan Morn, Gustav Holst’s Second Suite in F, Alex Shapiro’s Depth, Jonathan Newman’s Blow It Up and Start Again, J. P Sousa’s Minnesota March, Frank Ticheli’s Rest, and Dmitri Shostakovich’s Folk Dances, transcribed by H. Robert Reynolds. This performance will be one you will not want to miss.

The UMD Wind Ensemble closes its 2024-25 season with a vibrant program showcasing works by leading wind band composers. Percy Grainger’s Children’s March: Over the Hills and Far Away opens the performance with its playful, almost folk-like charm, evoking the carefree spirit of children at play.
