The daughter of a god, Agnes, portrayed by Asta August, descends to Earth driven by her curiosity to understand the human condition. Here, she constantly encounters individuals pondering the question: What is the purpose of life, if our pursuit of happiness and love leads to double the amount of grief? Over and over, the celestial offspring reflects, "humans are to be pitied." But, is that truly the case?
