Dance and words go hand in hand when choreography meets acting in Anja Behrens’ staging of Ibsen’s wildly imaginative classic. Peer Gynt wanders the world, driven by a relentless thirst for acknowledgment and the urge to escape his childhood. Subjected to his mother's deprivation and sorrow over the traumatic dissolution of his family and home, he has spent his life evading truth and reality, escaping into delusions, fantasies and grandiose lies. This serves as both his salvation and his curse. When he finally returns home, he is confronted with his profound fear of death.

Sort/Hvid goes to electronic war with Joan of Arc in a new, radical opera about the iconic female army commander.

In a time when Europe is shaken by war, we melt together the icon Joan of Arc, our present time’s stories about the call of war, digital warfare, and radical power structures. On stage we find opera singers, modern dancers, and live music, in a deconstruction of Giuseppe Verdi’s opera Giovanna D’Arco from 1845, by composer and sound artist Søs Gunver Ryberg. Staged by director Anja Behrens and scenographer Nathalie Mellbye, Jeanne d’arc becomes a musically carnal grip with an uncomfortable question, one which we all might have to answer in a near future: will you go to war for justice?
