Arguably our most popular concert of the season, Holiday Celebration, will be unlike any other in honor of our 75th season and in memory of Susie McMurry, a true friend of the Wyoming Symphony Orchestra. Enjoy a festive evening with the Wyoming Symphony Orchestra and friends for seasonal favorites to usher in the holiday season. Holiday Celebration will feature soloist, Devin DeSantis, to provide vocals making the evening a true winter wonderland.

Witness extraordinary young artists you have to see and hear to believe in a concert spotlighting two 2024 Shepherd School Concerto Competition winners. Anne Pinkerton takes center stage for Yano’s Oboe Concerto, a lively interplay between lush melodies and Brazilian rhythms. Dana Rath shines in Dvořák’s heart-wrenchingly beautiful Cello Concerto.

Immerse yourself in HGO Composer-in-Residence Joel Thompson’s “shifting palette of grooves, colors, and moods” (Bachtrack) in To See the Sky. Sibelius’s Symphony No. 7 unleashes an infinite universe of emotional power in just 20 minutes. Feel the full force of the Orchestra’s dazzling virtuosity in Lutosławski’s Concerto for Orchestra.

Orchestral Fireworks

GRAMMY®-nominated composer Christopher Theofanidis’s compositions have been performed by leading orchestras around the world, with Rainbow Body being the most performed new orchestral work of the new millennium. Currently on the faculty of the Yale School of Music, he is the recipient of the International Masterprize, the Rome Prize, and fellowships from the Guggenheim, Fulbright, Tanglewood, and the American Academy of Arts and Letters. 

Christopher Theofanidis, Guest Composer in Residence

After a career spanning 60 years, Philip Glass still sits at the cutting edge of music. He's influenced generations of classical composers, as well as David Bowie and The Talking Heads. He's worked with Martin Scorsese, Mick Jagger, and Leonard Cohen. Grammy® award-winning violinist Jennifer Koh returns to the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra to play what’s been called the "best concerto of the last 50 years" (ClassicFM.com), Philip Glass' Violin Concerto No. 1. The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra welcomes the return of local favorite Jerry Hou, a rising star on the contemporary music scene, to conduct a world-premiere composition by the jazz-inspired composer Nicky Sohn. The evening goes out with a bang in Rachmaninoff's galloping Symphony No. 1.
