Serenade is a milestone in the history of dance. It is the first original ballet George Balanchine created in America and is one of the signature works of New York City Ballet's repertory. Named after its music, Tchaikovsky’s Serenade in C major for String Orchestra, Serenade tells its story musically and choreographically, without any extraneous narrative.
A collection of new and invigorating works, Symphony of Life will include an exclusive commissioned musical score by world-renowned Israeli composer Anna Segal as well as extraordinary choreography by celebrated choreographer Ilia Zhivoi. The beautiful score will be performed by a live orchestra of 24 musicians, headed by the distinguished conductor Caleb Young with musical advising from illustrious violinist Alexandra Preucil, effectively immersing the audience into the piece.
