On Wednesday, October 16th, at 1:00pm in Winifred Smith Hall, The London Music Club Quartet will perform Mozart’s Piano Quartet in G Minor and Robert Schumann’s Piano Quartet in E-flat Major, two of the most iconic works written for piano quartet.

Professor and pianist Lorna Griffitt will perform a captivating solo recital showcasing a selection of masterful pieces. The program commences with Bach's Toccata in E Minor, a work with four imaginative, highly contrasting and seamlessly performed movements for solo keyboard. The program will continue with Beethoven's Sonata in A Major, Op. 101. This four-movement masterpiece is characterized by its lyrical passages, skillful counterpoint, fantasy elements, and cyclic use of themes, all characteristic of Beethoven's late-period compositions.

Join pianist Lorna Griffitt on a journey through musical treasures by Bach, Chopin, and the scintillating and mesmerizing Le tombeau de Couperin by Maurice Ravel. Also on the program will be the world-premiere of a work by Yungwha Son, a Korean-American woman composer who received her Ph.D. in music composition from UC San Diego.
