Hosted by composer Abbie Betinis, our popular Courtroom Concerts take place at noon most Thursdays in the Landmark Center in downtown Saint Paul. This series features accomplished musicians and composers from the Twin Cities and surrounding area, as well as occasional musical newcomers to the area. These one-hour concerts are free and open to the public.

Join us for an unforgettable evening honoring America’s 250th anniversary with three mid-century masterpieces that embody the nation’s vibrant musical spirit. John Corigliano’s Fern Hill (1961) sets Dylan Thomas’s nostalgic poem to lush, evocative harmonies, capturing the fleeting joys of youth. Aaron Copland’s Quiet City (1940) offers a hauntingly beautiful contrast, using solo trumpet and English horn to evoke the mystery and introspection of an American metropolis at night. Lukas Foss’s The Prairie (1944), inspired by Carl Sandburg’s epic poem, celebrates the resilient heart of the American Midwest with a folksy yet profound score. The University Singers and Chamber Singers join the Oratorio Society of Minnesota, forming a powerful 175-voice chorus, accompanied by a full orchestra.
