Michele Rizzo’s mesmerizing choreography offers a poetic exploration of how energy flows between bodies in urban contexts. In this workshop, Rizzo explores the performative elements of his Nuit Blanche project “Coalescing Towards” inspired by pedestrian activities like walking, waiting, resting, and rushing. Participants explore space through both shared and solo movements, using repetition to come together and break apart as a collective body.

Coalescing Towards reveals the concealed, yet dynamic space surrounding emotions like ecstasy, euphoria and anticipation. The performance evolves through repeated sets of simple pedestrian movements, enacted in unison by groups of performers as they navigate their environment. A gradually intensifying dance performance investigating the concepts of repetition and unison, exploring the capacity for movement to forge togetherness.
