"La clemenza di Tito" is a work that poses timeless questions about the use of power, guilt, and forgiveness. Mozart's late opera seria contains some of his most fascinating arias and ensembles. The rising tenor Giovanni Sala sings Tito, while Cecilia Bartoli interprets Sesto, one of her signature roles. The historically informed Orchestra La Scintilla performs under the direction of Gianluca Capuano.

Seduction and intrigue: The romance between Cleopatra and Caesar during his conquest of Egypt is one of the most famous love affairs in the world. George Frideric Händel’s opera based on this story was a sensational success. The composer’s contemporaries declared it «beauty of all kinds in abundance». Even today, the magic of this music remains unbroken. In this Opéra de Monte-Carlo production, director Davide Livermore transfers the action to a luxurious cruise ship on the Nile. Cecilia Bartoli sings Cleopatra, one of her most thrilling roles.

Duet or duel? There's no question that Cecilia Bartoli and Lang Lang are among the greatest virtuosos in their respective fields. But they probably never dreamed that they would one day share the stage together for an entire tour. Their first musical encounter took place in 2008, when Cecilia Bartoli organized a gala concert with many famous colleagues in honor of the 200th anniversary of the death of the celebrated opera singer Maria Malibran. Lang Lang was there too – and the spark flew immediately! The same energy, the same preference for colors and delicate nuances in music, but also the same playful joy in pitting their virtuosity against each other in a humorous duel. The fact that the continuation of their collaboration, already planned back then, is now finally becoming a reality is nothing short of a sensation.

It’s the dream held by every singer: to be able to use their voice with such beauty and emotional power that even wild animals begin to purr, the Furies hum contentedly, and stones themselves seem to soften and weep. Such was the legendary gift of Orpheus, the mythical hero whose voice could enchant anyone — even the terrifying demons of the Underworld. No wonder his tale became one of opera’s most beloved subjects: the oldest surviving music drama, from 1600, is based on this ancient myth. But the most famous Orpheus opera of all is Christoph Willibald Gluck’s.
