The Sun Also Rises from Tales of Hemingway for Cello and Orchestra

Come and join us for an unforgettable afternoon of music as the Boston Civic Symphony presents their 99th season finale. 
We begin with a  performance of Florence Price’s String Quartet No. 1 in G Major, Movement II - Andante Moderato, expertly arranged for string orchestra by the renowned Peter Stanley Martin.
Next, the audience will be treated to the vibrant and spellbinding Azul by Argentinian composer Osvaldo Golijov. Featuring the brilliant cello soloist Allison Eldridge, this piece will leave you in awe with its intricate blend of classical and Latin American influences.
And for the grand finale, the Boston Civic Symphony will bring the iconic Pines of Rome by Italian composer Ottorino Respighi to life. This beloved orchestral masterpiece takes listeners on a musical journey through the ancient streets of Rome, evoking the sounds and sights of this historic city.

This fun Classical with a Twist program explores the frequently noted connections between one of the greatest composers of all time with The Fab Four. Beethoven’s Cello Sonatas nos. 1 and 2 will be performed by Allison Yoshie Eldredge, cello and Max Levinson, piano, and the “twist” for this program will be Beatles songs sung by Natalie Levinson, backed by a lively “Beatlesque” ensemble.

A﻿n intermission chat and sip time with the artists will enhance the evening.

Having received prestigious awards and accolades, including the Avery Fisher Career Grant, Allison has made her mark on the classical music scene. Her artistry and achievements have earned her a place as the 1st Artist-in-Residence at The Allen Center in Newton, Massachusetts, where she founded Cherry Street Music "Classical with a Twist," a concert series combining classical music with social change.
Emil Altschuler - a distinguished violinist, promises an enthralling performance that showcases his mastery and musical brilliance. With years of dedication to his craft, Emil's talent resonates through his captivating performances.
Thomas Pandolfi - a consummate musician as both a cellist and conductor, brings a unique dimension to the ensemble. His ability to interpret and conduct will enrich the musical experience, promising an event of exceptional artistry and skill.
