USA Piano Ensembles Spring Concert

Dr. Robert Holm, USA Professor of PIano, will present a faculty recital on Tuesday, March 19 at 7:30 p.m. in the Laidlaw Performing Arts Center Recital Hall. The concert is subtitled "Music of the Americas," and will include not only USA Romantic and Jazz works but also pieces reflecting the sounds of Brazil and Argentina. Featured highlights on the first half of the program are from North America -- Gottschalk's "The Union," Barber's "Nocturne," three preludes by Gershwin, and "Touches" by Bernstein. The second half of the concert will have music with a South American flavor -- Milhaud's "Saudades do Brasil," Nazareth's "Odeon," and Ginastera's "1st Sonata."

We welcome the New Year with a rousing Fanfare! The concert opens with Cheatham’s A Brass Menagerie and ends with Saint-Saens’ fun and humorous Carnival of the Animals with MSO principal pianist Robert Holm and Doreen Lee performing the thrilling dual piano part. A real treat for the new year.
