An inspiring setting of a Lango rain-making prayer from East Africa, Waloyo Yamoni(“we overcome the wind”) fuses classical and non-Western musical traditions in a sweeping work for choir, wind symphony, and vocal soloists.

Join the Saskatoon Symphony Orchestra for a captivating evening as we celebrate 40 seasons with our esteemed concertmaster, Michael Swan. The night will feature a stunning performance of Henri Wieniawski’s Violin Concerto No.1, Op.14, with Michael Swan taking center stage. 

Under the baton of conductor Evan Mitchell, the orchestra and choir will also present Christopher Tin’s evocative choral work, *The Lost Birds*. This piece is a sweeping and elegiac tribute to the once abundant flocks that filled our skies, whose songs have now been silenced.

Sweeping and plaintive, The Lost Birds is a haunting memorial to bird species driven to extinction by humankind and a warning about our own tenuous existence on the planet.
