Before the champagne corks pop on New Year's Eve, the Berlin Symphony Orchestra will be banging the drums one last time! And not only that. With highlights from films, musicals, and operettas, they ignite a musical fireworks display that is in no way inferior to the sparkling spectacle at midnight. Of course, there will also be some Strauss classics in three-quarter time! Together with singer Nadja Mchantaf, conductor and presenter Ulrich Kern will provide the necessary momentum to start the new year in a good mood.

At our Christmas concert, we tell Hans Christian Andersen's famous fairy tale "The Snow Queen" – accompanied by appropriate Scandinavian music by Grieg, Sibelius, and Carl Nielsen. It's the story of the children Gerda and Kay, who are one and the same. But in winter, Kay is kidnapped by the Snow Queen. Her icy kiss freezes his heart and makes him forget everything good and beautiful, including his friend Gerda. To save Kay, she sets off north. She must resist seductive magical powers, take on a band of robbers, and finally finds her friend more dead than alive in the Snow Queen's ice palace...

In search of adventures, a cheeky, funny, and curious trumpet encounters many other musical instruments. It simply breaks out of its cramped tower room, where it lives with other brass instruments, and embarks on an adventurous journey. Along the way, it encounters many other musical instruments one after the other: in a garden, it meets the strings with their delicate soft sound, and in the forest, it encounters the agile woodwinds. Later, marching percussion instruments come towards it on the street. In the end, all the instruments come together to form an orchestra to give a grand concert. Grades 1-4

"Only those who grow up and remain children are human," Erich Kästner once said, and he faithfully adhered to this maxim. His novel "Pünktchen und Anton" (Pink and Anton) alternates masterfully between playful fantasy and philosophical contemplation. It deals with betrayal, responsibility, and the power of unconditional friendship. And with a saving blow from a wooden club. To transform the book into a musical story, the main characters encounter the rich sound of a symphony orchestra.
