Alceste has lost his heart to the young Célimène. She reciprocates his feelings, but she also enjoys socializing, has many admirers, and loves to flirt—especially on her television show, "Célimène Uncensored," where she invites local high society to share the latest gossip in front of an audience. Alceste, an investigative journalist, is a guest on her show to promote his new book, which exposes the hypocritical machinations of politics. Uncompromising and relentless, he refuses to make any concessions to politeness and etiquette—he insists on radical honesty. With passionate determination, he confronts a hypocritical society, preaches absolute truth, and deliberately places himself in an outsider position Witty and full of punchlines, Molière wrote a profound play about appearance and reality, and a wonderfully grotesque comedy of character. Ekat Cordes' production places the story in the garish, plastic world of television, where not all that glitters is gold, and shows that while the world may have changed since Molière's time, people have remained the same.

Village judge Adam finds himself in a predicament: the case of a broken jug is brought before him. The plaintiff, Marthe Rull, accuses Ruprecht, her daughter Eve's fiancé, of forcibly entering Eve's room and breaking the offending vessel. Ruprecht, in turn, claims to have caught a stranger red-handed, who escaped undetected by jumping out of the window. What no one suspects at first, however, is that the culprit is none other than Village Judge Adam himself. He had been harassing Eve the previous evening, was surprised by Ruprecht, and knocked over the fateful jug in his flight. What to do? Although Adam becomes increasingly entangled in his web of lies as the trial progresses, he brazenly tries to shift the blame onto himself until the very end…

The relationship between Cio-Cio-San, called »Butterfly«, and US American marine officer Benjamin F. Pinkerton begins as a proforma wedding – with unexpected consequences: the young Japanese woman cuts herself off from her family, hoping to leave her impoverished origins behind; Pinkerton, on the other hand, despite his overwhelming desires, doesn’t feel committed to this »provisional marriage«. When he’s ordered home Cio-Cio-San’s left behind, expecting his baby. She waits unwaveringly for his return; her only rock is her faithful servant Suzuki. But when Pinkerton’s ship re-docks in Nagasaki, the illusion shatters: He married another woman in America. When Butterfly realises they intend to take her child as well, she sees no other way out; she commits ritual suicide, as her father before her. Doing away with superficial clichés, the director R.B. Schlather focuses on the human tragedy, for which Puccini, Master of Melody found such heart-rending music.

Mozart and his librettist, and kindred spirit, Lorenzo da Ponte’s third opera revolves around six people. The lives of two couples are thrown into confusion in the space of 24 hours: Guglielmo and Ferrando are persuaded to make a bet with cynical Don Alfonso about their lovers’ Fiordiligi and Dorabella’s fidelity. Don Alfonso’s convinced that, with their maid Despina's help, he can prove both sisters are fickle. The young men dress up as foreigners, to seduce their best friend’s lovers. Feigned and real emotions start getting all mixed up. The »wrong« couples even celebrate a sham double wedding, before the sisters discover their husbands' true identities. All six draw seemingly happy and conciliatory conclusions, but the laughter sticks in their throats. Can things return to how they were? Which feelings were and are real anyway?
