Mit der Großproduktion von Arthur Honeggers außergewöhnlichem Oratorium »Jeanne d'Arc au bûcher« gastiert das hr-Sinfonieorchester im Anschluss an das Frankfurter Konzert auch in Paris, Wien und Hamburg. Mit von Partie ist neben dem Wiener Singverein der gesamte Sänger*innen- und Schauspieler-Cast rund um die Oscar-Preisträgerin Marion Cotillard als Jeanne d'Arc. Spielorte sind die Pariser Philharmonie, der Wiener Musikverein und Hamburgs Elbphilharmonie.

Ein modernes Mysterienspiel hat Honegger 1935 mit »Johanna auf dem Scheiterhaufen« komponiert – extrem abwechslungsreich aus Elementen des Jazz, der Moderne, der Gregorianik wie der Zirkusmusik gemixt. Das hr-Sinfonieorchester stellt das Oratorium vor – hochkarätig besetzt mit Oscar-Preisträgerin Marion Cotillard als Jeanne d’Arc. Himmlisches und mächtig Profanes hat der Schweizer Komponist vor knapp 100 Jahren hart aneinander geschnitten. Mit Chor und Kinderchor werden herrliche Klangräume aufgetan, aber auch die Groteske kommt dabei nicht zu kurz – ein Schwein, ein Esel, eine Windmühle, ein Weinfass, sie alle haben ihren Auftritt. Und im Orchester sorgen Saxofone und präparierte Klaviere für staunenswerte Effekte, und dazu eine Ondes Martenot, jenes elektronische Musikinstrument, das erst kurz vor dieser Komposition erfunden worden war. Für die Titelpartie konnte die französische Star-Schauspielerin Marion Cotillard gewonnen werden. 2008 wurde sie für ihre Darstellung der Édith Piaf in »La vie en rose« mit einem Oscar ausgezeichnet, die Liste ihrer weiteren Ehrenpreise ist beinahe so lang wie die ihrer Leinwandauftritte – die so unterschiedliche Filme wie »Inception«, »The Dark Knight Rises« oder das Film-Musical »Nine« umfasst.

The testament of a genius, shrouded in a fascinating legend: the circumstances surrounding the composition of Mozart's Requiem have contributed as much to its popularity as its inherent beauty. With it, the requiem mass becomes a passage to eternity.

In 1791, exhausted by his work, Mozart received a mysterious anonymous commission: a requiem—actually intended for Count Walsegg. Ill and soon bedridden, Mozart died on December 5th without having completed the score. It was finished based on his sketches by his pupil Franz Xaver Süßmayr. The diverse repertoire of Les Épopées, an operatic company that freely explores both sacred music and Baroque and Classical opera, perfectly suits this Requiem Mass, to which Mozart lends great expressive fervor. With its music director Stéphane Fuget, the ensemble returns to Dijon after performing Monteverdi's L'Orfeo last season, in collaboration with the Opera Chorus. Their program combines the Requiem with choral works by Beethoven and Schubert, imbued with a contemplative spirituality and open to consolation.

This program with Franco-German romantic overtones, centered around Mendelssohn, Berlioz and Haydn, also offers the rediscovery of a brilliant creator, Louise Bertin. 

Often seen together in the pit of the Opéra, the Dijon Bourgogne Orchestra will this time be on the stage of the Auditorium, under the direction of its conductor Joseph Bastian, accompanied by the French mezzo-soprano, Isabelle Druet. Druet has made a specialty of Berlioz's melodies, and she will be heard in Les Nuits d'été (Summer Nights ), a cycle of six pieces by the composer, set to refined poems by Théophile Gautier. In a similar vein, the overture to the comic opera Le Loup-garou (The Werewolf) , whose action takes place in Burgundy, will bring to light Louise Bertin, a musician close to Berlioz, unjustly forgotten. Mendelssohn's The Hebrides , a spirited and picturesque seascape, and Haydn's Symphony No. 1 "Les Adieux" (The Farewell) will frame this program under the auspices of the best of Romanticism!
