The people of Hamburg are in luck. During the Czech Philharmonic’s April tour, they’ll be the only audience to hear both of the programmes the orchestra has prepared. The second evening of the residency at the magnificent Elbphilharmonie will bring Mendelssohn, Bartholdy, and Stravinsky to the stage. After Mendelssohn’s Italian Symphony, the orchestra—under the direction of Chief Conductor Semyon Bychkov—will perform The Rite of Spring.

A concert at Teatro alla Scala is a true celebration for the Czech Philharmonic. Only a select few orchestras are invited to perform symphonic programmes at this iconic Milanese temple of opera. The orchestra's appearances there have been rare: Karel Ančerl etched two memorable performances into its history, and now Chief Conductor Semyon Bychkov will add a second mark of his own. The programme will include works by Mendelssohn, Ravel, and Stravinsky.

The Czech Philharmonic returns to Vienna’s Konzerthaus two years after its last appearance—and nearly a century after its debut there. Chief Conductor Semyon Bychkov will be joined by acclaimed Italian pianist Beatrice Rana and a trio of vocal soloists: Stefanie Irányi, Martin Mitterrutzner, and Jongmin Park. The programme will include works by Mendelssohn, Ravel, and Stravinsky.

The 80th edition of the Prague Spring will culminate in a performance of arguably the largest-scale work in the classical concert repertoire. Symphony No. 8 by Gustav Mahler (1860–1911) for eight soloists, two mixed choirs, children’s choir and a vast orchestra with organ earned the subtitle “Symphony of a Thousand”. The mammoth task to conduct the Czech Philharmonic in this full-length work was entrusted to Semyon Bychkov, who is regarded as one of the greatest Mahler conductors today.
