Man and nature, transience and new beginnings, romanticism and modernity - these pairs of terms can be used to describe the themes that ballet director Ivan Alboresi deals with in this double evening. Sources of inspiration for the first part are the romantic landscape painter Caspar David Friedrich and Ludwig van Beethoven. Friedrich, whose birthday will be the 250th anniversary in September 2024, not only made his "chalk cliffs on Rügen" world famous. He immersed his motifs in masterful lighting moods, with which he expressed, among other things, the vulnerability of nature. In combination with Beethoven's 4th Symphony, in which lyrical lightheartedness meets darker colors, Ivan Alboresi's choreography paints a poetic vision of a relationship between man and nature that is as complex as it is intimate.
