"Useless sleeping bristle!", "Light-shy prickly creature!", "Bristly idler!" The hedgehog woman has had enough again. With a stern lecture, she throws her husband, the lazy Mr. Hedgehog, out of bed. He goes off and makes himself comfortable in the field. But just at the moment when the hedgehog has settled down in a furrow, the haughty Mussjö Hare comes along, stumbles over the dozing Mr. Hedgehog and scolds him: "Crooklegs!" The sensation-hungry raven immediately goes on to tell what the hare said about the hedgehog. Mrs. Hedgehog is outraged. Because only one person is allowed to insult her "heart-thorn", and that is her. Besides, hedgehogs stick together in times of need. When Mussjö Hare then dares to take over the beet field under his perfectly manicured nails, an unequal competition ensues. Hare against hedgehog – or against hedgehog? Or both? And who is ultimately faster and can shout "I'm already here!"?
