Holger Biege, who enjoyed great success as a songwriter in the GDR in the 1970s and early 1980s, was an exceptional talent. When he sang, the world literally stood still for a brief moment. With enormous stage presence and clever lyrics, he captivated his audience. His strong groove and the incredible soul in his voice earned him the nickname "Stevie Wonder of the East" in musical circles. Songs like "Will alles wagen" or "Deine Liebe und mein Lied" described losses, unfulfilled longings and the attitude to life of an entire generation. Biege was not considered nonconformist in a primarily political sense. In 1983, after a guest performance in West Berlin, he did not return to the GDR. His hopes for a career in the West were only partially fulfilled, and the dream of a large-scale comeback on the occasion of his 60th birthday in 2012 also came to nothing: Holger Biege fell ill and did not return to the stage. This recital paints a very personal portrait of the artist Holger Biege (1952–2018), who died far too early. At the same time, he talks about his great love for his wife Cordelia.
