Sparkling and surprising, that is how we know and love the music of Joseph Haydn. Symphony No. 44 is no exception, and it is all the more puzzling why the work was given the nickname "Mourning" after Haydn's death. It has absolutely nothing to do with mourning, and no one gets sad when listening to it. On the contrary: Haydn puts the audience in a celebratory mood. Sergei Prokofiev's third piano concerto also promises a virtuoso firework display, especially since Isata Kanneh-Mason, one of the rising stars of the international piano scene, is a guest in Bremen. The Brit has also made a name for herself as a blogger and is not the only one increasing the celebrity factor at the 6th Philharmonic Concert. Shiyeon Sung, probably the best-known Korean conductor at the moment, is at the podium and is also conducting Mussorgsky's Pictures at an Exhibition. Sung is a star in her home country. She was the first South Korean conductor to ever make the leap to the podium of internationally renowned orchestras, including the Concertgebouworkest Amsterdam and the Los Angeles Philharmonic.
