Surveillance state, the constant feeling of being threatened by war, arbitrary power - how close are we actually living to George Orwell's famous dystopia? In 1984 - Love in the Mirror , the Volkstheater's resident choreographer Laura Witzleben explores the expressive possibilities with which the novel can be expressed in movement and dance, music, language, stage and costume - in a satirically exaggerated way and at the same time truthful: In the world, the desire of the few for total power has prevailed and become socially entrenched.
