Koray Berat Sari , a multi-award-winning bağlama player, jams with a youth ensemble, can be seen in theater and music projects, and performs with musicians from the Duisburg Philharmonic. During his visits to Duisburg schools, he brings a wide selection of saz instruments, including the bağlama, the oud, the duduk, and the daf. Where do the instruments come from, and what do they have in common? The community musician and his guests demonstrate how to tap along to the beat or drum with the tongue to the music. The rule for the students is: get involved in the body percussion!

Do you remember your favorite (picture) book from back in the day? Were you inspired by "Struwwelpeter," "Urmel," or perhaps "Max and Moritz"? The musicians of the Duisburg Philharmonic will bring their childhood treasures to the City Library. In addition to reading excerpts from their favorite books, they will present individual and loving musical interpretations of the stories. Young and old are invited to listen to the words and music together, discover new things, or rediscover familiar ones.

Clarinet and string quartet: Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart tried this combination for the first time in 1789 - and it was a great success. The quintet that Carl Maria von Weber composed 26 years later for the clarinetist Heinrich Joseph Baermann was just as popular. The fact that both pieces are still among the most popular of their kind today is not only due to their magical sound and melodies, but also to the humorous, cheerful mood that connects them. The path to Joseph Haydn, the grand master of musical humor, is of course not far. It was probably an enterprising publisher who first heard the many bird calls in his famous quartet op. 33 no. 3, to which the piece owes its sales-boosting nickname: "Bird Quartet".

At the Duisburg Philharmonic's winter concert, candles and string sounds compete for glory - this time in a particularly festive musical setting, when works by Italian baroque composers and contemporary colleagues from the north are performed. The dance sequence from Henry Purcell's stage spectacle "The Fairy-Queen" is already very varied. And while it is not only the spherical "Air" that enchants in Bach's 3rd orchestral suite, selected concerti grossi by Antonio Vivaldi, Arcangelo Corelli and Pietro Locatelli testify to the inventiveness and melodic seductive power of these masters.
