A spectacular sound experience is almost guaranteed when Artist in Residence Pacho Flores lets his trumpet shine over the majestic sound of the Eule organ in the Philharmonie Mercatorhalle. Both musicians live in Valencia, where Flores, who comes from Venezuela, has found his adopted home and Paterson works as an organ professor - and the well-rehearsed duo has also already been in the recording studio. In their musical luggage, the two have not only Johann Sebastian Bach's popular cantata "Wachet auf, ruft uns die Stimme" but also their own compositions. For example, the "Méditation sur Salve Regina" from the "Scènes Mystiques d'une Paraphrase Grégorienne", which Carlos Paterson composed in 2021. In the same year, Pacho Flores wrote "Musas y Resuello", which he dedicated to the Argentine tango king Astor Piazzolla. There is also a rousing Canarian dance, “Canarios”, by the Spanish composer and guitarist Gaspar Sanz. It was originally written for guitar, but in the concert it will be performed in an arrangement by Carlos Paterson, who also arranged Oskar Böhme’s trumpet concerto, while the cadenza was written by Pacho Flores.
