Carrie White is a complete outsider: her religiously fanatical mother raises her in a strict and naive way, and her classmates make the 16-year-old's life hell. Only her sports teacher, Miss Gardner, stands by her and tries to stop the bullying by excluding the perpetrators from the prom. Sue Snell then regrets her behavior and persuades her boyfriend Tommy Ross to go to the prom with Carrie. Overwhelmed by this unexpected happiness, Carrie has no idea that Chris Hargensen is planning a cruel prank. After the attack on Carrie succeeds, however, her reaction is far more horrific than expected. Because she has long since discovered that she has hidden telekinetic abilities...
