Come and celebrate the rich cultural legacy of Yiddish music with New York Sings Yiddish at Central Park on June 14th at 7 pm. Presented by Capital One City Parks Foundation SummerStage in collaboration with the National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene at the Museum of Jewish Heritage, this event will see Central Park come alive with the beautiful sound of Yiddish songs featuring the Grammy Award winning ensemble, The Klezmatics, joined by an all star line up of Yiddish concert and theatre stars: Joanne Borts, Josh “Socalled” Dolgin, Cantor Magda Fishman, Avi Fox Rosen, Sarah Mina Gordon, Daniel Kahn, Elmore James, Lea Kalisch, Daniella Rabbani, Eleanor Reissa, Lorin Sklamberg and Special Guest Dudu Fisher.

Celebrate women in Jewish and Yiddish music with Di Shvester: The Sisters. Two of New York’s finest vocalists, Eleanor Reissa and Cilla Owens, will perform alongside the Paul Shapiro Quartet. They will harmonize, swing, and groove saluting the rich world of Jewish women composers, lyricists, and songstresses. Reissa and Owens have interpreted this music for decades as soloists and bring their experiences and talents together for a foot-tapping, heart-grabbing concert. This concert salutes the rich contribution of Jewish women in Yiddish and English music.

The New York klezmer series presents: Klezmer in the Kitchen! (Hell’s Kitchen) Featuring Frank London’s Klezmer Brass All Stars-with Yiddish singer extraordinaire, Eleanor Reissa; and a Klezmer String Super group -Bob Cohen, Jake Shulman-Ment, Pete Rushefsky t Trio, with an added bonus reading and book signing by Eleanor Reissa of her acclaimed new memoir, The Letters Project: A Daughter’s Journey.
