Artistic Director

Artistic Director Steven Blier selects four promising singers and a pianist for a week-long Caramoor residency that includes daily coaching, rehearsals, and workshops, culminating in this concert in the Music Room. Assisted by Bénédicte Jourdois and developed in conjunction with the New York Festival of Song, this year’s program, To The Sea, is a hymn to the lure (and the menace) of the ocean, including works by Elgar, Guastavino, Rachmaninoff, Pauline Viardot, and Debussy.

The Rosen House at Caramoor

Highlighting the talents of Caramoor’s 2025 Schwab Vocal Rising Stars program, Beginner’s Luck features a wide-ranging playlist from German Lieder to Bob Dylan, exploring the chaotic decade between adolescence and adulthood, filled with seemingly endless possibility and endless peril. A cast of five brilliant young artists, all in their 20s, will join co-directors Bénédicte Jourdois and Steven Blier in this intriguing musical journey.

A musical tour of South America, with songs from Brazil, Bolivia, Argentina, Ecuador, Peru and Chile. The program features Ecuadorian tenor César Andrés Parreño and Bolivian soprano Shelén Hughes, with Steven Blier as pianist and host.

New York Festival of Song: Gracias a la vida

Kaufman Music Center

Celebrating his fiftieth anniversary onstage, Steven Blier offers songs by Astor Piazzolla, Kurt Weill, Gabriel Fauré, Fats Waller and many others.
Joining Mr. Blier will be mezzo-soprano Lucia Bradford and bass-baritone Federico De Michelis, along with a few special guest stars.

Recitalist, raconteur, and longtime Wolf Trap Opera favorite, Steven Blier leads Wolf Trap Opera’s Studio artists in a free public master class exploring the art of song and the craft of interpretation.
