Introduce your students to the fantastic world of opera featuring a 30-minute semi-staged performance of Scott Joplin’s stylish opera Treemonisha including the iconic “A Real Slow Drag” accompanied by piano. Designed for grades 3-12, each program includes three mini workshops: Music & Drama, Character & Movement, and Makeup. The program is recommended for groups of 100 students or fewer for the workshops and as many as desired for the opera performance.

We move next to the beautiful University City home of Dr. Richard and Mary Ann Shaw. This concert will showcase several past and present CRESCENDO! Scholarship winners, along with bassoonist Donita Bauer and pianist Jonathan Heaney. CRESCENDO! is one of Union Avenue Opera’s flagship outreach initiatives, now in its eleventh year, which offers undergrads from the St. Louis area free training, coaching and scholarship and performance opportunities. This specially curated program will offer a variety of styles and genres sure to delight.

Join us at the grand Compton Heights home of Marjorie Smith for our first 2025 offering featuring dramatic soprano Kelly Slawson, violist Victoria Voumard and pianist Jonathan Heaney. The program will feature three of Richard Wagner’s Wesendonk Lieder, musical theater pieces of Kurt Weill and the iconic “In questa reggia” from Puccini’s Turandot.
