On Sunday, 6 April, children aged two to four are welcome to join the Concertgebouw Orchestra at Gabriël Metsustraat 16 for a colourful musical programme. A musician from the orchestra will be taking them on an exciting musical journey of discovery. There’s a mysterious ‘Sound Box’, in which secret sounds are hidden. Whatever might come out of it? Children’s Music Day is all about the very youngest listeners feeling, sensing and experiencing music.

Brotherhood, tango, trombone, poetry and serenity: you can expect all this and much more on 22 December at Bijlmer Klassiek, that unique collaboration between the Concertgebouw Orchestra and the Bijlmer Parktheater.

Chamber music, including Beethoven’s Horn Sonata and Vaughan Williams’s romantic Quintet. But there’s also room on the programme for lesser-known names: discover the music of hornist–composers Frédéric Duvernoy and Franz Strauss (Richard’s father), as well as a subdued nocturne by Friedrich Wilhelm Voigt and an inventive trio by Carl Reinecke.
