Trumpet and natural horn resound in this dazzling program dedicated to Mozart and Haydn. A virtuoso celebration of the hunt and orchestral fanfare. While concertos often reveal the immense talent of the soloist they are intended for, the Concentus Musicus Wien can now count on the virtuoso breath of David Guerrier on trumpet and horn in this delightful program. Mozart's Horn Concerto No. 3 is followed by an exuberant and concise masterpiece, Haydn's Trumpet Concerto. The Austrian ensemble, a symbolic guest of La Seine Musicale, will end this evening, still in the company of Haydn, with a bang by sounding the hunting call.!

Late Night Concert I: “Music from Five Centuries”

In this series, the Berliner Philharmoniker and guests spark enthusiasm for classical music and take a closer look at the art of composing. In moderated concerts, they demonstrate the sound colours of the instruments or show how nature can sound.  In our Queen of Christmas special with horn player Sarah Willis and her colleagues, it gets turbulent and enchanting – Sebastian Heindl provides support on the organ.

Kirill Petrenko and the Berliner Philharmoniker bring 2026 to a close with wit and irony. The programme is framed by the overtures to Otto Nicolai’s Die lustigen Weiber von Windsor and Johann Strauss’s Der Zigeunerbaron. Dmitri Shostakovich’s Concerto for Piano and Trumpet offers a brilliant parody of the concerto genre, with Alexander Malofeev – making his Philharmoniker debut – and principal trumpet David Guerrier as soloists. Sergei Prokofiev’s “Classical” Symphony is an affectionate play on the traditions of Viennese style, while Richard Strauss’s tone poem Till Eulenspiegel portrays its eponymous hero with a knowing wink and a taste for the grotesque.
