Attention! Here comes blues at twilight. We're preparing our most beautiful open-air jazz stage for a legend: Eric Bibb is coming to the Rheingau. He is the philosopher among modern blues troubadours. His voice gets under your skin. His songs tell stories written by life. His delicate fingerpicking makes the Bibb sound unmistakable. Blues, folk, and gospel are the worlds in which he lives and whose sound he has helped shape over the past decades. The age of this youthful-at-heart, mid-seventies man is only noticeable in his relaxed charisma and superior experience. Eric Bibb's current, Grammy-nominated album, "Ridin'," is inspired by the suffering that has become deeply ingrained in the consciousness of the Black American population and revolves around his life's theme: the longing and struggle for freedom and justice.

With a career spanning five decades, over forty albums, three Grammy nominations, a multitude of Blues Foundation awards and countless more accolades, Eric Bibb has secured his legacy as a legendary figure in the blues and roots genre. Eric will be joined by multi-instrumentalist Michael Jerome Brown. Eric is known and revered globally for having carved his own musical destiny with honesty and power. Eric’s father, the late Leon Bibb, was an activist, actor, and folksinger who marched at Selma with Dr. Martin Luther King. Eric’s youth was spent immersed in the Greenwich Village folk scene. Bob Dylan, Joan Baez and Pete Seeger were visitors to his home. He was deeply influenced by Odetta, Richie Havens and Mahal, and he has synthesized all of that into his very own style. “In The Real World” is the latest album from blues troubadour Eric Bibb, following his Grammy-nominated 2023 studio release, Ridin’. Recorded at Peter Gabriel’s iconic Real World Studios and produced, arranged and mixed by Glen Scott, the new disc is a vivid representation of Bibb’s musical and personal evolution, offering a glimpse into the world he’s experienced and the hope he continues to foster through his music. Beyond conventional genres, Bibb is labeled a bluesman, but he defies categorization, seamlessly sliding between musical realms. Grounded in the folk and blues tradition with contemporary sensibilities, Bibb’s music reflects his thoughts on current world events and his own lived experiences, whilst remaining entertaining, uplifting, inspirational and relevant.
