Described as “superb” by the New York Times, violinist Tai Murray creates a special bond with listeners through her personal phrasing and subtle sweetness. Her PCMS return with pianist Gilles Vonsattel begins with Beethoven, followed by a pair of works by groundbreaking Polish composer Grażyna Bacewicz. Concluding the program are Georges Enescu’s second violin sonata, which fuses Romanian folk elements into the classical sonata structure, and Karl Goldmark’s delightful Suite in E Major.

Powerful yet sensitive playing, a pronounced sense of lyricism, an introverted yet direct expressiveness – these are the hallmarks of pianist Ekaterine Khvedelidze 's performances . Her commitment to piano music of the 19th and early 20th centuries focuses on Eastern European composers such as Chopin, Scriabin, and Medtner. Khvedelidze's repertoire also includes works by Franck, Brahms, Alban Berg, and many other composers. Born in Georgia, she began piano lessons with the renowned pedagogue Medea Gamsakhurdia at the age of five. Her subsequent career took her first to the Detmold University of Music before accepting an invitation from the legendary Russian pianist and Scriabin specialist Igor Zhukov to study with him in Moscow. Zhukov saw Khvedelidze as his artistic successor. Ekaterine Khvedelidze has lived in Berlin for many years. Here and nationally, she appears with cleverly planned recital programs.
