Many leading artists are committed to supporting young musicians in their field, as they know best: All beginnings are difficult, especially in the classical music market. This year's featured artist, Renaud Capuçon, knows this well and is therefore committed to supporting emerging talent. In 2022, he founded the Beau Soir Productions initiative with Banijay France, which supports young artists in their careers. In keeping with our composer focus, he will present works by Maurice Ravel and Gabriel Fauré together with three of his protégés.

In three years, Brahms wrote four works for him, including two sonatas. These are among his last compositions. They carry that particular light of late autumn afternoons—warm, slightly melancholic, strangely serene. In 1895, he reworked them for the viola. The instrument suits him even better, perhaps. Its lower register has that dark, golden color that Brahms sought. In this concert, Paul Zientara and Arthur Hinnewinkel retrace this path. Between the two sonatas, a few lieder, including the Wiegenlied , a lullaby known throughout the world, though not always aware that he composed it. And finally, the Scherzo from the FAE Sonata , a nod to another friendship, another era. Brahms in all his late splendor. New talents to embody him.
